Are you a refugee with a passion for IT? Do you speak Dutch at a B1 level and want to work in a Dutch organization? Motopp offers a unique opportunity to strengthen your language and IT skills while building a long-term career in the Dutch tech sector.


About the Traineeship
Over the course of 9 months, you’ll prepare for a career in the Dutch IT world alongside 14 other motivated trainees. How? Through a unique combination of Dutch language training, hands-on technical instruction, and insight into Dutch workplace culture. You’ll gain practical knowledge in software development, take Dutch classes to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, and learn how to navigate the Dutch work environment. You’ll also participate in workshops focused on soft skills like presentation, assertiveness, and teamwork.

After completing the traineeship, we’ll match you with an IT role at one of our partner companies. You’ll continue to receive intensive coaching for 18 months on the job, including one-on-one mentoring, performance reviews with your employer, and ongoing skills development workshops.


Program Breakdown


Dutch Language & Workplace Culture (12 weeks):
Tailored courses to improve your Dutch from B1 to B2 level, so you can confidently communicate in a professional setting. You’ll also learn about Dutch workplace norms, communication and presentation techniques, CV writing, and Agile/Scrum fundamentals.

IT Bootcamp (12 weeks):
Covers three main modules:

  • Business IT (Project Management, Business Requirements, UI/UX Design)
  • Back-End Development (Python, DevOps, Testing)
  • IT Fundamentals (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Security)
    This phase helps you build your technical skills and discover which IT role suits you best.

Internal Internship (12–16 weeks):
Apply your skills in a simulated Dutch Agile work environment. You’ll build real applications in sprint teams and receive valuable feedback from our trainers and mentors.

Paid Job Placement:
After successfully completing the program, we’ll connect you to an IT position at one of our partner organizations.


Your Profile

  • You have refugee status and currently receive government benefits
  • You speak Dutch at a minimum B1 level
  • You have experience with or strong interest in IT
  • You hold a higher education degree equivalent to a Dutch bachelor’s (HBO level)
  • You have strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and a desire to learn

Selection Process

Location & Timing
The traineeship starts on August 18. You can apply until June 22.

This is a full-time program: Monday through Friday, 09:00–17:30. The program is hybrid:

  • Dutch language training takes place daily in person (Amsterdam or Utrecht)
  • IT training takes place two days per week at our office in Amsterdam and the rest from home.

Costs
The traineeship is completely free of charge for participants. Motopp covers the full cost of the IT training, travel expenses, and provides a loan laptop if needed. For the language training, we request funding from your local municipality. Therefore, it’s important that you receive benefits and have a caseworker at the municipality.
