Questions for clients

Do you have questions about working with Motopp, deploying Motoppers or our methods? Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions from organizations. Is your question not listed? Feel free to contact us. We are happy to think along with you.

Motopp is an organization that trains status holders and newcomers with a refugee background to become IT professionals, guides them in finding a job and places them within the Dutch IT labor market.

Status holders are people who have fled from their home countries and applied for asylum in the Netherlands. If the Dutch government says they may stay in the Netherlands, they are given a residence permit. From that moment on, they are called status holders. Status holders are allowed to live, work and go to school in the Netherlands. They receive guidance to build a new life.

Newcomers are people who have recently come to live in the Netherlands, coming from another country. They can be migrants, refugees or family reunifiers. The term mainly says something about the length of their stay in the Netherlands (usually less than five years) and the fact that they are still in the process of integration, such as learning the language and getting used to Dutch cultural society.

By working with Motopp, you gain access to a diverse, motivated and talented group of highly skilled IT professionals. You help them get a chance on the job market and contribute to more inclusiveness in the IT sector. In addition, with this partnership you fulfill SROI (Social Return On Investment). You show that your organization also considers social impact important.

Motopp uses a careful selection process based on motivation, affinity for IT and basic skills. The selected candidates follow an intensive training program for 6-8 months. In this program they are optimally prepared for a successful career in the Dutch labour market.

In addition to the technical training, Motopp offers intensive coaching and mentoring to promote the integration of trainees into the Dutch labor market. The personal guidance is an essential part of the program and contributes demonstrably to the success of the trainee.

From the start of work within an organization, the trainee receives structural support for 18 months. This consists of fortnightly coaching sessions. An evaluation meeting is held with the manager and the trainee once every three months.

The support is aimed at recognizing possible bottlenecks at an early stage and responding to them immediately. Because of the intensive involvement of both the manager and the Field Manager, trainees can be adjusted in a timely manner, effectively keeping their knowledge up to date.

Furthermore, trainees receive support for personal development points, such as assertiveness and language skills. The Field Manager actively thinks along with them about appropriate solutions, such as offering additional training, help in preparing for meetings or organizing additional language lessons.

Motopp strives to prepare every trainee optimally for a successful and sustainable career in the Netherlands.

You can apply by contacting Motopp at [email protected] or contact Magnus Beers to discuss partnership opportunities.

Motopp has already successfully placed more than 250+ status holders and newcomers in the IT sector. Curious about the stories? Check out our client cases.

Questions for municipalities

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our program, admission requirements, the pathway and how we partner with municipalities and wsps. Do you have a question that is not answered here? Feel free to contact us, we’d be happy to help.

A candidate can apply themselves through the vacancy on our website. Then that person immediately enters our system and is invited for an interview if the profile meets our requirements. Would you rather spar about a CV first? Then contact us.

Although Motopp makes every effort to mediate the participant to employment, there is no job guarantee. The likelihood of placement depends on several factors that are considered at the time of mediation, including the participant’s development, attitude and behavior, and demand in the job market.

During the traineeship, a trainee is supervised by his or her own People Development Manager. This People manager regularly contacts the client manager of a trainee with a report on the progress of the traineeship. He or she is also always available for questions. When the trainee starts working at a partner organization, he or she will be supervised by a Field Manager for 18 months.

Generally, no. Motopp covers IT training, guidance, travel expenses and other costs involved in the traineeship. For the Dutch traineeship we ask the municipality to reimburse the costs of the language lessons from the participation budget of the candidate. It is also important that status holders are able to keep their benefits, should they be entitled to them.

No unfortunately not. Motopp focuses on people with a refugee background. In the program we also pay a lot of attention to the Dutch work culture.

Interesting! We would be happy to discuss this further. Please contact Recruitment & HR Manager Noëlle de Dreu.

Questions for candidates

Are you looking for a specific answer related to guidance towards employment, our training program or want to know what Motopp can do for you? Here we answer the questions we get most often from candidates. We explain how we work, what you can expect and how to get in touch with us.

For you as a status holder or newcomer, there are no costs. We pay for your training and reimburse your travel expenses. Most of the training is done remotely, from your own home office. Twice a week you will come to our office in Amsterdam for a joint workshop with other Motoppers.

Once we have successfully matched you with an employer after the training program, you can of course start working in a paid position.

We understand that you are extra vigilant about the safety of you and your family. We only collect anonymized data online. When we ask you to fill out a form and leave data, we do so on a platform where we have observed security measures. Your data will never be shared to third parties without permission. See our privacy statement, with more detail on how we handle your data.

That you already have the necessary skills is great. You will probably recognize that finding a job is not yet so easy as a status holder or newcomer with a refugee background.

In the Netherlands there is a different work culture and the work processes are different from what you might be used to. That is exactly what we are going to solve for you. If you are selected by us, you will enter an intensive guidance program, where we will help you solve obstacles and increase your chances of getting a job in IT.

At Motopp, we don’t look at where you come from, but where you want to go – and whether you have a clear affinity for IT. Use the motivation questions to make a good case for why we should invest in you.

If you meet the basic criteria, we will invite you for the first interview, followed by an assessment. With this we test whether you have the necessary basic skills to successfully start the program. The assessment is followed by a second interview in which we look more closely at your IT skills, affinity and ambitions.

Do the results show that you are not yet ready? Then we recommend that you first work independently on your IT skills. There are many good online courses available that allow you to develop and still qualify for our program.

The traineeship lasts 6-8 months on average, but depends on several factors such as your technical background, progress in the track and the offer at one of our partner organizations. You will receive two weeks of basic training, three months of IT boot camp and three months of internship within Motopp.

During the traineeship there will be evaluation moments in week 6 and week 14. Based on your performance during the IT bootcamp, your attendance and your communication skills, you will be assessed for continuation of the traineeship.

The IT Traineeship is a training program in which we prepare you for the Dutch labor market during a period of 6-8 months. The program is free of charge and provided by Motopp, with the aim of guiding you towards a paid position within the IT sector.

Although Motopp makes every effort to help you find a job, there is no job guarantee. Your chances of finding a job depend on several factors that are considered at the time of mediation, including your development, your attitude and behavior, and the demand in the job market.

Sometimes things happen beyond your control. When you follow a training program with us, we feel involved in your situation. Share it with us, and we will be happy to think with you about a possible solution.

Although we cannot influence everything, we can look for a solution together. Sometimes this means putting the program temporarily ‘on hold’, but we are happy to keep talking to you.

The training program requires that you be available full-time. If you are selected, we will inform you no later than one month before the training starts. If you get caught up in caring for children or sick parents, consult at home what your options are and don’t hesitate to consult us about possible solutions. It will be intensive, but don’t forget that it also gives you a great opportunity. Really can’t make it, but are you available in a while? Let us know you’re interested or contact us again in a while.
